INTRO
The population of a small town slowly grows over time, bacteria decays, a scientific
researcher maps out the relationships between key variables in their investigation.
An investment banker graphs the current stock market fluctuations, a doctor
monitors the condition of his patients heart rate, a year 12 student draws the final
sinusoidal curve on the end of term exam.

Mathematical relationships are everywhere. They form the basis of many key
aspects of everyday life, and account for a substantial portion of current school and
tertiary education. They are an inescapable byproduct of the technologically
orientated age in which we live, with our thirst for knowledge and discovery often
involving a set of axis and relating y to x somewhere along the way.

Through the use of manual calculations, IT based graphing program Graphmatica
and verification through the use of a graphics calculator, this paper aims to
investigate and analyse various properties associated with functions in the following
form:
