The assignment, Cap Court, is where everyone gets in groups and becomes either lawyers or witnesses in a court case. Then a fake court case occurs with the lawyers and witnesses then the people, who arent involved in the case, become the jury and decide the outcome. My court case was about a woman, who was filmed for a movie called, Desert warrior, but her film was put into a movie called, Innocence of Muslims, an anti-Islam film that incited riots in the Middle East. I was a lawyer and for this I had to do research about the topic and the witnesses so that we would have all the right questions to ask. Most of the time was used prepping the questions and the witnesses. I learned a lot about court and what lawyers have to do, it was very interesting and I really liked the argument part in the court case.
This assignment was very important for me to put in my portfolio because it was very interesting to me and it was the first interdisciplinary project that really got to me. I worked very hard for this project so that my side would win the case, even though the jury voted against our side. But this assignment makes me very proud because it was my first time having any practice doing any lawyering and arguing in a real way and I feel like I did a very good job on it.
This assignment really showed off my strengths and my weaknesses in many ways. It showed off my ability to prepare well and m ability to argue points, but it also showed my weakness in being spontaneous, when something went wrong for my team and I had to go off script, the questions werent as well created. But overall this project was great and I am very proud of it.
