Isnt it amazing that 2000 years ago people used some of the same rituals to get baptized as we do

today? Baptism is a series of rituals to be accepted into Gods life and the religion of Christianity. It is
currently hard to imagine the similarities between todays baptising rituals and Jesus baptising
ceremonies but essentially there are a lot. There are also some differences as well.
To begin with, both todays and the pasts baptizing ceremonies need someone to get baptized and
someone to baptize them. Both rituals consist of holy water, used to bless the individual who is
getting baptized. In both baptisms the water was used to cleanse people from their sins and allow
them to enter the Catholic Religion. When getting baptized you must wear a white garment or robe
to symbolise the entrance into the Catholic life.
In addition to all these similarities, there are many alterations to todays baptism rituals from Jesus
time. Today a person of any age is allowed to attend the rituals of baptism but in Jesus time only
adults were permitted to do so. Baptism in the past was traditionally meant to be at a river but
recently baptism has been located inside a church with a large bowl to hold the water. This is only a
few of many differences between todays baptism rituals and Jesus time baptism.
Some people would like to be baptised in the same way as Jesus did because they want to follow his
ways and become like him, but these ceremonies are not accepted in todays Christian laws. There
have been changes from the immersing in the water of people, in Jesus time you would immerse
yourself into the river and get out. Recently babies are the most popular age for getting baptized so
priests immerse the babies into the water as well of all added rituals items. For example candles for
new life, olive oil and so on.
Visibly, baptism today features are very similar to the baptism ways in the period before Christ.
There are, however, many variations between both. In my opinion I think that people should be
allowed either of the two ceremonies but must be immersed in water or poured on them. If you
want to be part of Gods family of Christianity this is a stepping stone to doing so.
