Overview
Students will use what they learned about DNA, translation, replication,
transcription, and mutation, and write a claim, evidence, and reasoning.
Objectives
Students will review translation, transcription, replication, and mutation.
Students will use what they learned and evaluate a mutation to describe what
happened to cause the mutation.
Students will review a CER; how it is written and what it is composed of.
Students will begin to outline their CER using a graphic organizer.
Activities
Review translation, transcription, replication and mutation with the class.
Discuss how mistakes in DNA coding can cause mutations.
Examine the prompt for the CER.
Discuss the organization of the CER.
Discuss the rubric for the CER.
Develop a graphic organizer for the CER using Inspiration and/or Microsoft
Word.
Evaluation
Show the completed graphic organizer as an exit ticket.
