Is sex all that matters?
Reading Response

We see everyday on the TV, social networks, and commercials, among others. things that
maybe influence us to do things. What the author Joyce Garity is trying to say in her essay is that
she thinks that the network and the TV is sending the adolescents a bad message. She also refers to
this girl named Elaine, a foster child of 17 years old that was living with her in her house. This girl
had already a kid and was pregnant again with her second child. Basically, she was brainwashed
like a lot of our youth today. Yes, I understand that society has much to do with this. Many of us
unconsciously do exactly what we watch on TV, commercials; we do not realize this but we
unfortunately do it. We have to take off our blindfolds and understand that things have changed.
There are more diseases today than ever, so you need to protect yourself. I understand that maybe
the girl had no education required and therefore she committed those mistakes. Maybe she did not
have a home or a family that looked after her and, therefore, that was the consequence .This girl
didn't learn, but others can learn from her mistakes. Sex is not all that matters; there are more
important things in life.
