TEACHING PRACTICE I
2014
1

The current essay shows my teaching practice process and the systematiza-
tion of each step that I have been through a long this semester, moreover, the suc-
cess and unsuccessful tasks that I made for my own improvement as teacher. The
product of my teaching will show what I am and what I am going to be after this
course. Showing my professional quality during my learning process, through the
implementation of my e- portfolio in futures projects. For structuring this essay I
consider the following question for the development of this essay.

1. What I have been through in my Teaching practice and in the course?
2. How am I going to do a systematization of the Teaching Practice Pro-
cess?
3. How am I going to apply the e-portfolio approach including the new
learning environment in the ELT?
4. How I am going to deal if you want to use technology in a school or
place of work but there is not Tech in the classroom. What are you going
to do? How am I going to solve the problem?

Teaching process include set of systematization procedures, for making the
aims achievement during the course. Teachers do not simply impart information
and knowledge; teaching is not merely about systems, facts, figures and certainly
does not exist to promote insularity and lack of social interaction. by following
those aspect, I can notice about daily challenges that teachers face with student
misbehavior and student learning problems as well.

1. What I have been through in my Teaching practice and in the course?
Teaching is the most challenging and rewarding task that I had ever done
along these last months, not only for the necessity for implementing my own
teaching style and innovating in the classroom, but also to know myself as a per-
son who has to give the best every day. Theory and practice are the best in both
learning and teaching but at the same time is one of the main problems of teaching
practice ,because sometimes I have no idea how to separate them when I was ex-
plaining my lesson. One of the meaningful thing that I have learned along this pro-
cess is, how to design my class by using lesson plans, based on the methodology
that I have been learning along this course; It usually take definite time for design-
ing and asses on each activity, it becomes easy to organize my class time.
I can reflect from each experience, what worked on and what did not work
with my students, one of the most interesting aspects that I want to highlight for
maintaining students attention is, to speak full English inside the classroom, that
allows me to get the student focus on what I am explaining, once they understand
by kinesthesia and realia, they will be able to do whatever I want them to produce.
On the other hand, one of the hardest things that I could not set completely with
my students is rapport; my personality does not allow me to being friendly as oth-
er teachers do. I created a group on facebook in order to communicate with my
students, because I have no time to share with them as well.
In reflecting on teaching practice course, I did not know anything about
teaching, because I had poor mentality but I needed to feed my mind by looking
for good information online. The communicative competences are important in
this teaching process, I think that I know methodology also how to apply it; but
sometimes, I cannot show myself in speaking way that is communicative compe-
tence and this factor affects my teaching. For solving this problem, I decided to
3

download useful tools for my own improvement, also I revised over and over
again the class that I going to present next day. Because teaching is a very delicate
job, I cannot enter in my classroom just invented whatever it comes to my mind
because I will create confusion on students and it could be wrong for them in long
term.
In spite of the challenges that I have met since I started my teaching practice,
I have grown; because, when students open to me I have the opportunity to meet
them, there with innovative strategies to encourage creative and critical thinking
from them. By using variety of material and resources, those make students easily
engaged in class. In my teaching performance during the past four months, I have
realized that I could not achieve it all in a short period of time, because I am learn-
ing from my errors, later I will be rewriting them in the correct way by sharing my
problem with colleagues, an revising each class in order to find the error for im-
proving in the future, I remember once I design an activity on my lesson plan as-
signed a determinate time for develop it but when I am doing this activities it take
me more than the stipulated time nut teacher are human beings and I know as I
gain experience I will be better.
2. How am I going to do a systematization of the Teaching Practice Process?
The teaching process attends certain kind of care. Before to design the class
the first step that I have to consider is, to guide myself on the MINED syllabus, in
which is established the whole topics, approaches, skills, and indicators that I am
going to achieve by lesson. Second, I am going to design my planning document
based on my syllabus, extracting the topics for dating my classes in a period of
time. Third, I will design my outline activity whereby I organize the whole mean-
ingful activities of the course for evaluating the students product. Fourth, I will
structure my class, on a lesson plan by each topic that I will performance along my
teaching , thereby this help me to organize my time and goals to achieve by les-
4

son. I think those artifacts have to be designed one by one, because they comple-
ment each others. If I miss the planning I will lose the organization of the dating,
the same for the other ones, they follow a pattern in teaching.
I will choose these artifacts because of the districts initiative to implement
the procedures to building my own teaching style and responsibilities as teacher.
In this way I will empower students Comprehension, Accuracy, Fluency, and Ex-
panding Vocabulary skills that are important to achieve, on each goal of the les-
sons along the course. Similarly, I will like to include in my teaching and students
artifacts such as: assessment evidence, Feedback from students and parents, Pho-
tographs of students' works, classroom, Student reflections on their work and
growth. Teacher reflection on students' works, Video of my teaching using tech-
nology , Artifacts from classroom-based on research and assembling them in my
future teaching portfolio.
3. How am I going to apply the e-portfolio approach including the new
learning environment in the ELT?
The e-portfolio contains all evidence that I am going to do in my class, using
technological resource furthermore; it will demonstrate exemplary work and stu-
dent skills showing the quality of students work using the different technological
resources implemented at the end of the program. When those tools are used more
at home than in the classroom they are called virtual platform, it is not the same
when teacher brings these tools inside the classroom in this way is called blended
learning, based on specific purpose approach. Teacher has to be creative in order to
change students attitude toward common physic learning environment into virtu-
al learning environment cause the lack of devices inside the classroom. The majori-
ty of high school account with Centro de Recursos de Aprendizaje (CRA) this is
equipped with certain number of computer with Internet and another devices used
5

for technological needs. I will be able to design my class inside CRA room in order
to create my own English language teaching.
There are a lot of technological resources on line, not only to enhance stu-
dent`s new vocabulary, but also to develop meaningful and active learning on stu-
dent and. For instance I could make an activity in CRA room through Educaplay
web, this website allow me to create interactive tests based on the topic that I am
currently teaching. "A well-executed e-portfolio program is an incredible tool for higher
education. They provide institutions with authentic assessments of student learning and
promote the deeper learning that we want for our students. I don't understand why more
institutions aren't using them." (Words, 2014) As teacher I have to break teaching
paradigms, innovating every time I can, beyond to help my students to learn
through technology. In addition, to help me to improve my performance, enrich
and individualized student learning.
Sometimes students do not understand how to use technology which is the
reason why students are afraid to get in virtual environment. Those problems
probably I will face with my student`s attitude toward blended learning environ-
ment. Students who are not comfortable using computers should be placed with students
who are. These students should not be forced to use the mouse or type at the keyboard. As
they become more familiar with the technology, they will often begin to play a more active
role - even if they don't, the ability to use the computer is not the issue (Beare) This
strategy could work with students who are not acquainted with the technology, I
have to seek the way to engage students participation. In this stage I will proof
myself to innovate every time students need, as teacher I have to be updated more
than my students do because it is a constant process that involves whole tools use
in pedagogy.

4. How I am going to deal if you want to use technology in a school or place
of work but there is not Tech in the classroom. What are you going to do?
How am I going to solve the problem?

Computers should be used as a language learning tool, but never could re-
place teachers. The use of a computer for listening exercises often provides not on-
ly sound, but also visual input providing students with more contextual clues. But
what if the institution does not account with technology, for providing those re-
sources to students apply on they own learning. Teachers can enhance their lectures
with presentation software, videos and other forms of multimedia, but the methods stay the
same. For teachers who dont understand how these new tools can enhance what they are
teaching, then technology can be a distraction. (Levasseur, 2011) The characteristic
that a good teacher has to get is, to know methodology and the ability to perfor-
mance the class anywhere without technological resources if I have not technology
at hand.
If I enter I a classroom without technology, and I need to promote the four
macro skills in English, what I have to do is, to bring to the classroom the suitable
materials in which I will support my teaching performance. I shall chose a role
play, monologue, dialogue or a short reading paragraph in order to make my stu-
dent develop their listening skill, by giving a paper containing a series of fill in the
blank space activities after they listen the conversation that I will provide them by
my own voice. In the same way, they can produce their speaking by communica-
tive approach through, chain drill or dialogue etc. There are many useful strate-
gies and activities, within I could present my methodology by each student neces-
sity.
As an example of this stage I can figure out me entering in the classroom,
trying to engage students to understand any topic performed in full English; even
7

when they do not understand anything. Unlike to give them a clue for assuming
what you are trying to transmit, I think a simple drawing could make a great dif-
ferent between the ignorance and the association of abstract thoughts in students. I
don't believe that technology is an indispensible teaching tool. A good teacher is a
good teacher with or without technology, and no amount of technological gadgets
is going to make a bad teacher into a better one. Technology is not the key to stu-
dent success. What is most important is student engagement and effort both in and
out of class, and a good educator can nurture that engagement and increase stu-
dent motivation.
It is not about the technology; its about sharing knowledge and information,
communicating efficiently, building learning communities and creating a culture of profes-
sionalism in schools. These are the key responsibilities of all educational leaders. (Marion
Ginapolis)
It is not necessary to being a politician to can solve our country problems as
long as we have the chance to change the life of one person; it will be enough to
implement our effort, if the government is not capable to provide technology to
schools, we provide the intellectual tools for defending whenever the students per-
formance. This profession goes beyond from materials and monetary needs that a
teacher could have.
As a conclusion, I think that improving teaching practice is an immense and un-
ending process. Moreover, It is essential for teachers to continuously examine their
teaching strategies and continue to explore new and creative ways to promote
learning and deep students understanding about the complex sciences there are in
the world. On the other hand, the use of artifacts as evidence reinforced the im-
portance of developing routines and procedures in the classroom. Then those will
allow self assessment to success changes in futures teaching projects.
