Tsunami: the wave no one saw coming
Chapter 1
The sun flickered off the wing of the plane as I awoke I remembered that today was the day
before Christmas. I was served a nice warm meal with a nice warm cup of hot cocoa. The
crew member that served my meal said that we were about to land. I woke my younger
brother max and my parents Linda and Joe and told them we were about to land. Then we
all fastened are seat belts and prepared to land.
When we got out of the airport our tour guide took us to our hotel. It was 5 star rating with
a clear blue pool and lovely green and lushes palms. When I was inside the hotel I could see
the beautiful scenery through the glass window strait away I wanted to go to the pool, but I
felt really tired and I fell asleep as I saw my parents unpacking.
The next morning my brother woke me up and told me it was Christmas. We both found
trail of coins leading outside. After the trail ended I found my present I opened it was a
universal pocket tool, it was what Ive always wanted, strait away I ran to my parents room
and thanked then so much.
After my family and I got ready we went to the city for breakfast. We finally found a
restaurant with very good food with a very low price. When we got to the hotel we had over
100 toys for fewer than 20 dollars. When we were in the hotel we me and my brother
grabbed our bag of coins and ran to the resorts arcade.
When I was exiting the hotel, my plastic bag got caught on the door of the hotel and ripped
a small hole in my plastic bag. A girl the same age as me found the trail of coins that my bag
left leading to the arcade. One-by one she picked up each coin, then she bumped into me I
said hi whats your name she said the same back. I said my name is jack and she said
my name is May. Then we both played in the arcade and became friends.
May came along with me and my family to our beach soccer game. The soccer game took a
long time the score was 25 to 26. Then may scored a goal and it was a tie. After the game
we invited May and her family to dinner at a restaurant with a 5 star rating. While the
parents talking May took me and my brother to a spot on the beach that was next to the
restaurant. There were a lot of rock there, she picked up one and said to us this is a fossil
rock. Then she picked up another rock and said to us if you hammer a fossil with another
rock gently the rock will open and there will be a fossil inside. After dinner I said goodbye
to May and went back to the hotel.

Chapter 2

On Boxing Day me and my family went to the pool, May and her family also decided to tag
along. Me, my brother and May were playing with the ball max got for Christmas. As we
were playing with the ball max hit it out of the pool. As I went to get it I felt a rumble then I
look at the horizon I saw a huge wave I shouted tsunami everyone get out of the pool
and run. As I tried to out run the wave I felt my heart racing, but the wave still caught up to
me. I tried to stay above the water but it kept pulling me down. When the flood was over I
found myself resting on a branch of a tree that was strong enough to not get toppled over.
I got down from the tree and started to look for my family or anyone know all I saw were
dead bodies and debris, I then called out hello is anyone out their then someone
responded Im here come and help me. The voice was coming from in front of me. I
pushed through the debris and I found my brother Max. I told my brother to stay with me
and dont go wandering. Next we made a meeting point and I told him when he hears my
pocket tools horn to meet at the meeting spot, I also told him if anything goes wrong go to
the meeting spot and blow the horn Im giving you and I will do the same . Then we went
our separate way to scavenging for anything useful. When I blew the horn we gathered back
at the meeting spot Max found a bottle of coke and bread and I found some cooked meat
and a bag, so we put everything in the bag and found a tree climbed up it and we went to
sleep.

The next day we were wandering around the debris when we heard a voice call out help
Im stuck. So we ran their as fast as we could and we found that May was the one calling
for help so we pulled her out of the rubble she was trapped in. then she told us to look at
her leg it was cut, so found a door and put her on it and carried her away.
We finally found hospital that didnt get hit by the tsunami but it was crowded. As we were
pushing we saw a few familiar faces they were my mom and dad. We first dropped May off
with the doctor and I told max to stay with her. I then ran over to where my parents were
and I saw my parents starring at Mays mother Helen leg. All that was left was bone she was
screaming, the doctor rushed here as fast as she could and she called a few other doctors
and they did surgery.
Chapter 3
After we all got out of hospital it had been 2 days after the tsunami hit. We found a car
hidden under the debris. We hotwired it and it started we drove to a shelter set up 10 km
from our hotel they gave clean food, water and vaccinations. In the crowd I noticed a hand
waving at me I told our group to follow me and we found out it was Mays dad she ran to
him and gave him a hug. We asked him what happen to and then he told us his story.
He said I woke up in the late afternoon in a hut made off straw I open the door. I saw kids
playing happily in a perfectly untouched village. I then called out May, Helen are you out

there. Then I ran out of the village on to the road I still had my phone then I saw a family
walking, I went up to them with my phone and asked them. Do you speak English and
have you these people the family said yes and the said to keep walking forward until you
reach the relief shelter. I did what the family said and I found you.
Chapter 4
After we gathered everyone we had to live in a shack together for one year until we were
allowed to leave. We had to walk 2km to the airport once we got their there was a long line
of people trying to get out of the country. It took us many hours to get to the front and
when we were at the front it was 12 midnight. Finally we were allowed to leave the line and
go on a plane. I felt so relieved that we were finally going home. We then left May and her
family and boarded the plane. As soon as I went on the plane I fell asleep next to my
parents. When I awoke the plane was landing. My parents were trying to wake my brother
up. When we got out of the airport one of our family friends drove us to our house and that
was the end of tsunami crisis.
