Active Shooter Drill

Mark Deming, AVPD, will be on vacation and unable to be at GL.
Several police officers from AV and Eagan will be here.

Brad would like to make contact a couple of days prior to the drill. He will arrive about 20
minutes early on the day of the drill.

Preparation:
Need computer, projector, screen
All doors locked prior to drill.
Fire alarm system set on testing
Have a couple of signs on doors (main, delivery) that a drill is in progress until 2:30
they will have to come back then.
Also, have building maps for everyone.

Drill Agenda:
1. Everyone meets in media center.
a. There will be a short video and PowerPoint.
2. Divide into 4 groups for discussion and questions/answers.
3. Everyone goes to their classroom/work area.
a. There will be an announcement that everyone should be in their rooms; then
an announcement that the drill will begin.
b. There will be noises (blanks).
c. Staff should think about:
i. What was that? Did that really just happen?
ii. Where did the noise come from?
iii. What action should I take?
d. There will be an announcement that the drill is over and everyone should re-
convene in the media center.
4. With everyone in the media center, staff will discuss the drill and have an
opportunity to ask questions.
