A Visual Analysis

During a recent ad published by Peta (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) Mr. Dave
Navarro an American, singer and songwriter, is best known for being a member of the rock band, Janes
Addiction. Here in their awareness campaign, Mr. Navarro stands with PETA the largest animal rights
organization in the world, having over 3 million members and supporters.
He (Navarro) places his stand on Animal rights; together PETA and Mr. Navarro use his celebrity status
to convey an effective ad campaign. Here Dave poses nude, exposing a stern expression on his face along
with his tattoos, followed by a simple little catchphrase Ink, Not Mink. (Be comfortable in your own
skin, and let animals keep theirs).

PETA has used their strong persuasive voice for all the animals in our world. Throughout all
these years of the organizations existence, their powerful and emotional techniques have successfully
reached their targeted audiences. With this particular ad campaign, they (PETA) are reaching out to this
modern eras population in hopes to reach others, such as celebrities like Lady Gaga. PETA has fired both
barrels at Lady Gaga for her publicity stunts, such as wearing an all meat dress to the Grammys awards
ceremony. PETA has also criticized Lady Gaga for dressing her poor adopted pet doggie (Asia) with
heavy luxurious jewelry.

Obviously certain emotions our being affected, some extreme animal activists have in the past
gone as far as throwing red dye or paint on people while they were wearing fur coats, or other types of

animal hides. This type of behavior is one way to get someones attention for sure, however its not a very
polite or an ethical approach. So, PETA through the years has found other clever and more respectful
marketing schemes to convey their message. Animals have rights too and that they must be adhered to by
all humans in order to save their race and their kind and our ecosystems.

Understanding that Animals too have rights and trying to be as kind as possible to those of us
whom may not be totally aware of the cruelty that these animals go through, PETA has strategized and
implemented such marketing techniques as this one. Using high profile celebrities such as Mr. Navarro
and others, PETAs achieving their overall goal oriented mission.

In conclusion our society is slowly becoming aware of this major controversy and PETA has
taking all the necessary precautions to protect and preserve these animals and their rights, as well as the
rights of others, constitutional rights. PETA and their 3 million members throughout the world, work hard
at being these animals voices and their leading authority figure, in all fairness to societys needs and
wants, PETA respectfully and ethically strives daily to show and educate us on how to be less cruel to all
the animals of our world.
