Krishnamurthy Subramanian is a Faculty in Finance at the Indian School

of Business. Prior to joining the ISB, Prof. Subramanian was a Finance


Faculty at Goizueta Business School, Emory University, USA. He
obtained his MBA and PhD in Finance under the advice of Prof.
Raghuram Rajan and Prof. Luigi Zingales from the Booth School of
Business, University of Chicago in 2005 after joining the program in
2001.
His research in banking, corporate governance, law and finance, and
innovation and economic growth have been published in the worlds
leading journals such as The Review of Financial Studies, Journal of
Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis,
and the Journal of Law and Economics, and are well cited.
Prof. Subramanian is actively involved in policymaking in India. He is a
member of the expert committee on governance of banks set up by The
Reserve Bank of India. He has also worked with the Ministry of Finance,
Government of India to reform food policy in India.
Prof. Subramanian is an expert economic commentator for NDTV, a
columnist with The Economic Times, Mint and The Financial Express
and is regularly quoted in the media for his expert views.
Before pursuing an academic career, Prof. Subramanian worked as a
Finance Professional with J P Morgan Chase (New York) in Investment
Banking and Global Capital Markets (2004-05), with the Indian
Financial Institution ICICI Ltd. in their Derivatives Research Group
(1999-2001) and with the Indian Fixed Income Markets regulator
FIMMDA as the Executive Assistant to the Chairman (2001).
As the batch topper during his MBA at Indian Institute of Management,
Calcutta, he was awarded the Institutes Gold Medal and was nominated
to the Honor Roll of the Institute. Prof. Subramanian is an Electrical
Engineer by training from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
