ItgotmetothinkingteachersarerequiredtoattendInservicetrainingbeforeschool.Its
alwaysdreadedandI,personally,wouldratherhaveacavityfilledthansit3daysinahard
woodenchair,rehashingthesamethingsyearafteryearafteryearafteryougetthepicture.
WhatifteacherswereinchangeofInservice?Whatwouldwedoawaywithifwecouldsuggest
anythingandpeopleinchargewouldlisten?Ohhh,thepossibilities..
1.PleasedonotgiveusbindersfullofmaterialswewillprobablyneverusebecauseYOU(the
planner)attendedatraininganddecideditwasawesome.Honestly,justgiveusanempty
binder.Thatswhatisgoingtohappenanyway.Welistentoyoursynopsis,tryingourbestnotto
rolloureyesorpokethepersonnexttous,andthen,whenitsover,inthehiddencomfortofour
room,wearegoingtothrowawaythesecopiesandusethebinder.Saveatree.Justgiveusthe
binder,sayyouwenttoaconferenceandletsmoveon.Timesaved:1hour.
2.PleasedonotreadyourPowerPointpresentationtous.Atsomepointintime,weveall
provenweareliterate.Also,doubly,pleasedonotputsaidPowerPointpresentationin
aforementionedbinderwewillnotuse.Justdont.Timesaved:30minutes.
3.No,wedonotwanttochangehowweteachAGAINbecausesoandsocameoutwitha
newtechniquewhichlooksfamiliarlyliketheoneweusedseveralyearsagountilanew
techniquecameoutandweusedthat.Andforgoodnesssakes,please,please,wedontneed
anotherlaminatedcopyofBloomstaxonomy.Nope.Timesaved:Uptoaday.Literally.
4.Ilikemycoworkers,andheck,IevenlovesomethatIveknownawhile,butIdontwantto
holdyarninashapewiththemandthrowaballarounduntilitfallsthroughahole.You
REALLYwantworkplacebonding?Breakusintogroups,giveusalistofcluesandtellus
theresapayraisehiddensomewhereoncampus.Ohyeah,youllseesomebonding,and
sometruecolorscomeout.Timesaved:1hour,Werebondedandricher
5.Whatwedespise?Really,reallyloathe.ThinkPairShare=No.Youknowwhatsgoingto
happen?Youthinkweresittingaroundtalkingaboutyourbinder,andyourPowerPoint(inthe
binder)andhowmuchwelovedtheyarnactivity,whenreally,weretalkingaboutwherewere
goingtoforlunch.Youcancallonusandwellmakesomethingupontheflythatsounds
relevantifyouneedustodothat.Wereteachers,remember?Weareexpertsofthinkingoffthe
cuff.Werestillthrowingawayyourbinder,andnowweknowwerehavingMexicanfoodfor

6.WhyaskuswhattheCampusMissionStatementandgoalsshouldbeiftheMission
Statementandgoalshavenotchangedin20years?Handusacopy,wellgruntinagreement,
andweredone.PleasedontgiveusacopyandaskustoThinkPairSharewiththegroup
aboutthesethings.Wecareaboutasmuchasthestudentscarethatthefloorsarewaxed.
