The fauna of Romania consists of 33,792 species of animals.

Red deer live in Carpathian Mountains but can be met also in the
hilly and plain woodland.
The Carpathian stag population consists of about 35.000 specimens.
In Romania they inhabit forests, from the Danube Delta to
the heaths in the Carpathians.

Romanian forests .

The wildcat physically resembles domesticated cats in
most respects. It is met along the Alpine area until the
Danube Meadow.

The Danube Delta is a genuine fauna paradise.
98% of the aquatic European fauna lives here. The fame of the Delta is due to the
327 species which can be met here and which represents 81% of Romania's avifauna.

The pelican is the symbol of the Danube Delta, the Tulcea
county and the whole of Dobrogea.
