the valleys south of 8rgup, and the most traditional one. #ts isolation meant it was the ideal place
for 1y2antines to build monasteries, which they inhabited until at least the 1OP6-s. ,he locally made
doll is the symbol of the village. $ local woman lost her baby and, unable to cope emotionally, made
a rag doll to ta'e its place. Gater on, the women of the village developed the art of ma'ing these
dolls while their men were out on the mountains gra2ing their animals. $ Soganli doll is a must for
every doll collection. $fter a very local lunch at Soganli, we drive towards Sinasos ( Mustafapasa* an

Starting the day with a visit to local mar'et ( available only on Monday, 9riday and Saturdays * or a
morning wal' to the fruit orchards of $yvali +illage. 5e will collect and taste fresh fruits from the
trees (harvesting between ?une and 0ctober* or visit the cave storages for lemons and potatoes.
,he tour continues with the wal' through the narrow streets of the village ma'e grape syrup,
tomato sauce productions and pump'in seed collecting. +isiting the local meeting point,
=ahvehane, (coffeehouse* to learn more about their lifestyle and local games while drin'ing the
,ur'ish coffee and tea.+isit the mos.ue in the village and learn more about the religious customs.

,he Sema 5hirling dervishes ceremony is the inspiration of Mevlana Celaleddini Rumi (1!6O
1!OH*. $ part of the ,ur'ish culture, it is also integral to the belief system and history of =onya. ,he
ceremony symboli2es the different meanings of a mystic cycle to perfection% $scension to Mirac. #n
essence, it is what we do as a form of remembrance to /od. ,he most notable person in =onya was
the world famous FMevlana Celaleddini RumiE who established the Mevlevi Sufi philosophy.
5atch in wonder at this 1hour show in Cappadocia, as the whirling dervishes ta'e their place and
praise the Prophet Mohammed. 9ollowing a chant, the e)traordinary whirling dervishes revolve to
represent the birth of humanity. 5ith his hat (his ego-s tombstone*, and his white s'irt (his ego-s

5) Tur0ish ?ight
,ur'ish Iight Show is organi2ed not only to let you e)perience ,ur'ish culture and traditions but
also to have a real entertainment and show after a rela)ing Cappadocia day. ,he show starts
between !6.66 to !6.H6 depending the season in one of the cave restaurants of Cappadocia where
the show will be performed. ,he show begins with a short, !6 minutes version of 5hirling
7ervishes Ceremony which will give you an idea about how it is. 9or the real, religious ceremony
we suggest. 7uring the whole night, there will be live music performed by a traditional customs
wearing band. $fter the dervishes, fol' dancers come in their local dresses and the dances start. ,he
dancers, including the bride and groom, come on the dance floor and perform the traditional way,
which a girl gets married in ,ur'ey. ,he bride dressed in a beautiful red dress dances in the middle
and the groom comes up and put on different shows for her. He first shows how handsome he is,
and than how strong he is and finally how rich he is. $fter re"ecting all these shows one by one, the
bride accepts to get married with him when the groom tells that his heart beats for her. 5hile they
are starting to their wedding dance, all the guests are invited to dance with them, as well. $fter a
couple of other fol' dances from different parts of ,ur'ey, the highlight of the night comes: 1elly

,he ,ur'ish bath, also 'now as hamam or hammam, is one of the ancient world-s most widely
e)ported customs. ,he tradition of the ,ur'ish bath was born generations ago, adopted from
Romans and 1y2antines and then perfected by the Sel"u' and 0ttoman ,ur's and has continued
even until today.

5ell, the ritual is simple. $fter entering to our hamam at =elebe' Hotel, you will find yourself in the
came'an with changing cubicles. 5earing only a Pestemal (a large striped or chec'ed towel fringed
at both ends and wrapped around the chest*, and clan'ing on the marble floor in your nalins
(clogs*, you pass through a semitransparent door and reach the core Sica'li' (hot room*. ,o feel
more comfortable, we suggest our guests to have their swimsuits with them as well.
Sica'li' (also 'nown as Hararet*, is a high room filled with the sound of splashing water, the scent
of soap, and wafting steam through which daily concerns and worries cannot penetrate. #n the
gentle moist heat your body rela)es, and your nerves are soothed. Rou sit down at one of the
marble wash basins which line the walls, and ad"usting the temperature of the water to a delicious
warmth, dip the copper bathing bowl into the basin and tip the water over your head and body.

attendant (tella' for men and natir for women* will pour hot water on you and then begin to scrub

,his class will start at 16:66 from your hotel in Cappadocia. 0ur guide will pic' you up from your
hotel and drive to a village house in /oreme. Here you will learn the most famous dishes of central
,ur'ey: 7olma and Sarma. 7olma could be described as stuffed bell peppers. Rou will first ta'e the


seeds out of the peppers and have the pure part. ,hen , you fill inside with a mi)ture of meat, rice
and some spices. ,he final part will be the coo'ing part. ,his meal is served hot or cold, depending
