Hydra reproduces
asexually.
First, the parent grows a
bud.
Then that bud develops
its own mouth and
tentacles.
The bud finally detaches
to the parent and
becomes independent.
Parts of living things
are arranged in a
particular way
There are levels of
biological organization
biochemical,
structural,
physiological, and
ecological organization
Owls have large eyes set
forward on the head gives
great depth perception for
hunting
Retinas of their eyes are
packed with low-light sensitive
rods to see at night
Their necks are flexible that
helps them follow the prey as
they move
Fringed flight feathers that
muffle the sound of air
passing through their feathers
Sharp talons for catching prey
Living things produce
offspring similar to
themselves.
All organisms belonging
to the same species are
alike with certain degree
of variations or
differences.
Sunflowers have the ability face
towards the sun or heliotropism.
This is made possible because of
the pulvinus, a specialized organ
found at the base of the leaf.
The pulvinus consists of extensor
cells (for stretching) and flexor
cells (for bending), which swell or
shrink in response to changes in
turgor (pressure) determined by
the amount of water in the cell.
As extensor cells swell and flexor
cells shrink, the leaf can move to
track the sun.
