Elements or Characteristics of Law

1)Law is a body of rules .


2)Law is for the guidance or conduct of persons.
3)Law is imposed.
4) Law is enforced by the executive,
5)State- is a territorial division. people therein
subject to a uniform system of law.
6)Content of law-Law responds to public opinion.
7)Two basic ideas involved in law are
a) To maintain some form of social order in a
group.
b) To compel members in a group to be within
that order.
8) Law is made to serve some purpose which may
be social, economic or political.

Lok Adalats
Received statutory status under legal services
authorities Act 1987.
The Act provides that State or District authorities
may organise Lok Adalats at convenient places.
Adalats consists of Judicial officers of the area
and such other officers who possess the special
qualification required.
Adalats can determine and arrive at compromise
or settlements between the parties to a dispute
in respect of any matter falling within civil,
criminal or revenue courts or Tribunals.
The Award of Lok Adalat can be enforced in
law.
