Line Trunk Groups (LTGs) are interfaces between digital switches and telephone networks that can be analog or digital. There are several types of LTGs that connect to different systems like subscriber lines, digital line units, trunks, and international gateways. Each LTG type has physical hardware like frames, shelves, or modules that are tailored to its connections and applications. LTG modules perform key functions like processing, switching, interfacing with networks, generating tones, and receiving push button codes.

interfaces between the digital switching Network and the network environment of the exchange. Which may be analog or digital. Types of LTG LTGA (Direct Connect to Subscriber Lines) LTGB (Connectivity with DLU) LTGC (NWD and Tandem Trunks) LTGD (International Gateway Trunks) LTGF (Combine Version of LTGB and C) LTGG (Enhanced Version of LTGF) LTGH (Packet Switching) LTGN (New Version of LTGG) LTGM (New Version of LTGN) Physical Hardware of LTG LTGB = One frame used for one LTG LTGC = One frame used for one LTG LTGF = One Shelf used for one LTG LTGG = One semi shelf used for one LTG LTGN = One Module used for one LTG LTGM = One Module used for four LTGs LTG Modules Depending on the application, the LTU is equipped with different modules GP (Group Processor) GS (Group Switch) LIU (Line Interface Unit) TOG (Tone Generator) CRPC (Code Receiver for Push Button Code Group Processor The Group Processor (GP) is an independent periphery controller. Group Processor is a combination of following Four Modules. GCG (Group Clock Generator) PMU (Processing & Memory Unit) SILCDLU (Signaling Line Interface Controller for DLU) SMX (Signaling Multiplexer) Group Switch The Group Switch (GS) is used if the LTGB interfaces with subscriber lines. Group Switch is a combination of following Four Modules. GSC (Group Switch Controller) PSC (Parallel To Serial Converter) MCAA (Memory Conference Attenuation Module Type A MCAB (Memory Conference Attenuation Module Type B Line I nterface Unit The Line Interface Unit (LIU) is the interface between the LTG and the Switching Network (SN). The LIU transmits the information in parallel through both Switching Network. If the Switching Network in active mode fails the LIU transmitting information via remaining Switching Network. Tone Generator The Tone Generator (TOG) produces call processing tones. TOG Generates 64 different types of Tones. Code Receiver for Push Button Code The code receiver are allocated to push button dial subscribers and trunk lines only during digit input. CRPC Module only used in LTGB.
