Mathematics

On Monday we will review how to
perform 2-digit addition by using
compensation. Compensation means
when you change one addend you
also have to change another addend.
We began working with
compensation on Friday. If you need

Parents, you can also have your child
practice his/her addition skills by
using place value blocks. I will send
home a page with place value blocks
that your child can cut out and use at
home. Helping your children
understand addition by using place
value blocks will really help them in
the future.









This week in Reading
This week we will be reading fables
in class. The children will learn about the
morale of each fable. We will also review
some skills such as sequencing,
comparing/contrasting, and
comprehension. I have added a few
items to our classroom website. Your
child can click on reading and then fables.
The fables section has a few different
options for listening to fables. Have fun!

Writing
In writing we will begin working on
our descriptive paragraphs. Each child
will design his/her own monster and
write a descriptive paragraph about the
monster.
