To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to confirm that Ms. Xu Shan, who is studying at South China University of
Technology majoring at Communications, was commissioned by the Communications Team
of the British Council South China with an initial desk-top media research for one and a half
months and will finish the task on 26 November 2009.

As the Communications Manager South China of the British Council, I would like to learn the
latest media scene in South China, especially in Guangzhou, to plan for our media strategy
and identify appropriate partnership for projects. Therefore, Mr. Zhou Ke, the Editor-in-Chief
of New Weekly magazine who’s also teaching at the University, recommended Ms. Xu Shan
and several other students to support us with an initial desk-top research to explore the
information for our analysis. At the recruitment interview, Ms. Xu Shan stood out and
impressed us with her professionalism, prudence, analytical thinking and organising skills.
Later on, we commissioned Ms. Xu Shan to lead her own team of people to conduct the
media research, identifying the top 60 media that are most active in Guangzhou, in terms of
popularity, sales, and ranking status, etc. Second step was to establish a database for these
60 media, clarifying the positioning of the media, special columns, organisation structures,
key journalists & editors, etc.

Ms. Xu Shan has demonstrated competency of her leadership, analytical skills, and
prioritising skills through out the process of handling the media research. She set up her own
team to work on the research, played a key role in communicating the tasks with us and then
cascading & assigning to her team; She proposed the format of presenting the research; She
made constructive suggestions to build the research, e.g. initiated the categories method to
organise the findings; She is an active listener and made revisions according to our feedback
efficiently; She is good at prioritising and keep on schedule. Generally speaking, her
proactive attitude and comprehensive abilities are impressive.

I hope this information will be helpful.

Yours faithfully
