Urbanization is the increasing number of people that live in urban areas.

It predominantly results
in the physical growth of urban areas, be it horizontal or vertical. The United Nations projected that
half of the world's population would live in urban areas at the end of 2008.
[1]
By 2050 it is predicted
that 64.1% and 85.9% of the developing and developed world respectively will be urbanized.
[2]

Urbanization is closely linked tomodernization, industrialization, and the sociological process of
rationalization. Urbanization can describe a specific condition at a set time, i.e. the proportion of total
population or area in cities or towns, or the term can describe the increase of this proportion over
time. So the term urbanization can represent the level of urban development relative to overall
population, or it can represent the rate at which the urban proportion is increasing.

Urbanism is the characteristic way of interaction of inhabitants of towns andcities (urban areas)
with the built environment or in other words the character of urban life, organization, problems,
etc., as well as the study of that character (way), or of the physical needs of urban societies, or city
planning. Urbanism is also movement of the population to the urban areas (urbanization) or its
concentration in them
city is a relatively large and permanen thuman settlement Although there is no agreement on how
a city is distinguished from a town within general English language meanings, many cities have a
particular administrative, legal, or historical status based
suburb is aresidential area or a mixed use area, either existing as part of a city or urban area or
as a separate residential community within commuting distance of a city Some suburbs have a
degree of administrative autonomy, and most have lower population densities than inner city
neighborhoods. Suburbs first emerged on a large scale in the 19th and 20th centuries as a result of
improved rail and road transport, which led to an increase in commuting. Suburbs tend to proliferate
around cities that have an abundance of adjacent flat land.
