PURPOSE
Have a better understanding of the concept of metrics as related to project management and how metrics should be
considered in the Project Management Plan. Students will have to figure out how their project will be evaluated
with respect to metrics.
ACTIVITIES
The students will do this exercise in their project teams. Perform each of the following activities. If you have
questions, issues, or doubts, please ask for help and do not just guess.

1. Using the information from Section 13.3.4 of Essentials of Software Engineering, consider the following
questions and turn in your answers to the instructor:
a. What metrics are appropriate to monitor the project you have been planning?



b. What will these metrics show and how can the project team use the metrics in evaluating the performance
of the project team?



c. Why are these metrics good and what are the pros and cons associated with these metrics?



d. What mechanisms can be used to collect this metric information for the project?





e. How can you incorporate this information into your project plan?
