FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: World Conference on Science and Soccer Brings the Worlds
Best Scientists Together to Improve Soccer Performance.

Portland, Ore. [20 May 2014]The 4
th
World Conference on Science and Soccer (WCSS) will
be held June 5-7 on the University of Portland campus. This will be the first time the conference
is held in the U.S.

The conference brings together individuals interested in the study and performance of soccer
players, including: sports scientists, coaches, strength and conditioning specialists, sports
physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, professors and students. Organizers expect the
conference to draw 300+ participants from around the world, bringing the best international
soccer scientists into a dialogue with the growing group of U.S. scientists.

WCSS 2014 program features plenary speaker Rasmus Ankersen, author of the Gold Mine
Effect: Crack the Secrets of High Performance. Ankersens discussion highlights the process for
creating physical and psychological environments that promote the development of outstanding
athletes. Alongside the keynote address, internationally leading scientists and practitioners will
address the emerging new challenges facing the soccer-related world, through invited symposia
and both oral and poster research presentations.

This conference offers the opportunity for a rich exchange of ideas, theories and practical
suggestions for coaches and scientists who work in soccer from the youth to the professional
levels, says Dr. Terry Favero, Program Chair.

This is the 4
th
conference of its kind, overseen by the World Commission on Science and
Football. The World Commission has sponsored previous conference in Liverpool UK; Port
Alexander, South Africa; and Ghent, Belgium.

The World Conference on Science and Soccer will be held June 5-7 at the University of
