Parents,

We are excited to begin a new school
year with your child in the Advanced
Learning Program for High Achievers
(ALPHA). Gifted elementary students
in Whitfield County Schools will
receive more rigorous education
than ever before!
Beginning this year, gifted
education is expanding to include a
blend of advanced content and
resource instruction. Teachers will
lead instruction for advanced
content during your child's regular
class.
Advanced content
taught during class will
align with state standards
to help students excel on
the new Georgia
Milestones assessment, the
standardized test

replacing the
Criterion-
Referenced
Competency
Test (CRCT)
this year. The
state has also
introduced
the Georgia
Student Growth Model to measure
year-to-year progress. Advanced
content courses will help Whitfield
County students gain a deeper
understanding of the state standards
and increase academic
growth.
