Lets Graph

Student directions:

1.Collect a bag of cereal from the center of the table
2. Draw the axis for two graphs, (one on each side of the paper)
3. Open up bag of materials and separate into groups; according to similar cereal
4. Based on the amount of cereal in your bag create a title that you can use to represent
the materials you have (cereal). Example: Mrs. Hutchins class and their favorite cereal
or Most sold cereal in 2014.
5. After you create a title label the x and y axis accordingly
6. Draw your picture graph using your materials as a guide
7. Repeat steps 4-6 as you create your bar graph however this time have each piece of
cereal represent more then the one. Example: 5 Peanut butter cereal pieces equals 10
because each 1 equals 2.You can have each piece represent any number from 2-5.
8. On a notebook paper, create 4 questions a peer could answer using your graph. 2
questions for the picture graph and 2 questions for the bar graph.
Example: If 5 more people voted for Rice cereal, how many more people would like Rice
cereal over Peanut butter.
9.Be creative and have fun!
10. Do not eat the cereal remember everyone will touch it
