MSK UE and LE exam
Be familiar with clinical presentation of lumbar diagnoses
(spinal stenosis, herniated disc, epidural abscess) and their
corresponding exam findings (remember the red flags you can
see)
Be familiar with the presentation of impingement syndrome
(ie rotator cuff tendinitis) and its treatment algorithm
Be familiar with the different presentations for meniscal tears,
bursitis, ACL tears, and patellofemoral syndrome (also how to
confirm the diagnoses based on exam, tests, or imaging)
Be familiar with the Ottowa ankle rules and their exclusion
criteria
Be familiar with the presentation of carpal tunnel syndrome
Be able to tell the difference between cervical radiculopathy
and CTS
Be familiar with UE fractures (humerus and distal radius) and
how to manage them (surgery or no surgery)
Be familiar with different ankle fractures and which ones
require surgery versus no surgery
Inflammatory Myopathies
Be familiar with the differences in presentation of IBM, DM,
and PM and be able to distinguish and diagnose each
Dermatomyoisitisinflammatory myopathy most associated
with malignancy (be familiar with general principles of
evaluation for malignancy in DM)

Know what you would see on biopsy for DM, PM, and IBM
Know general principles and goals of treatment as well as
timeline for treatment
Be familiar with CK and how it relates to disease activity in
IBM, PM, and DM
