Topic Assignment

Monday Today 4th period will watch most of The If you haven’t finished reading
Final Cut (as 2nd period did on our early Tolstoy’s Death of Ivan Ilyich, do

Tuesday Finish the film The Final Cut. We will
then discuss whether or not Ivan’s life is
worth memorializing via a Eyetech
rememory. What would Tolstoy say about
Ivan’s life? What should we, as readers,
think about Ivan’s life, and whether or not
he redeems himself in his death?
Tonight, in lieu of a worksheet on
chapters 11 and 12, I want you to
write a short response to the
following question, using at least two
quotes from the novella: Does
Tolstoy think that Ivan’s life is worth
memorializing? Typed. Due
