Course Description:
Intermediate Math 2 Honors focuses on three critical areas of math: (1) Formulating and reasoning about
expressions and equations, including modeling an association in bivariate data with linear equation, and solving
linear equations and systems of linear equations; (2) grasping the concept of a function and using functions to
describe quantitative relationships; (3) analyzing two- and three-dimensional space and figures using distance,
angle, similarity, and congruence, and understanding and applying the Pythagorean Theorem. This course
material will include more in depth study than the regular class and may require additional outside work either
at home or with the teacher. Homework and tests will be more challenging, and additional topics will be
covered. To remain in the honors math class your son/daughter must maintain at least a B- for each end of term
grade. If (s)he has a term grade that is less than a B- (s)he will be put on probation. If the grade for the
following term is also less than a B- then (s)he will be taken out of the honors class and placed in the regular
math class.
