Notebook 2
During my research on the topic of same-sex marriage I have found out the type of
stress and health problems that those who are either transgendered, bisexual, lesbian, or gay
go through. These people live their everyday life in fear of those who are homophobic. I found
out that these individuals are treated so badly and looked down upon that they suffer from
many health issues. Just some of the many health issues include mental health issues such as
depression attempting suicide, STDs, drug abuse, and even isolation. As I continued to do my
researched I focused on the many health issues that come from these individuals.
After I completed by flash memoir of a story about one of my family member who is
transgendered and is also in a same-sex relationship, I realized that I failed to do research on
transgender. I missed the opportunity to explain what exactly being transgender means. I also
missed the opportunity to research other family members who experienced what it was like to
have another family member come out of the closet. There are many different perspectives
that I could look at instead just the person going through this that I missed.
