ANIMALS


Cold-blooded
animals.
Skin is covered with
hard and slimy
scales for
protection.
Have fins and tails
to swim.
They breathe the
oxygen in the water
with their gills.
Most of them lay
eggs that are
fertilised outside
their bodies.



Cold-blooded animals
Their young live in water
and breathe through their
gills.
Adults live on land and
use their lungs to
breathe.
They return to water only
to lay eggs.
The eggs are fertilised
outside the females body
(external fertilisation).
The adults have loose
and moist skin.
Their bodies do not have
scales, hair, feathers or
claws.

WARM-BLOODED
ANIMALS
Warm-blooded
animals keep the

at a constant
temperature.

are warm-blooded
animals.

change with the
environment)

The only animals
with feathers.
They have beaks
and wings but not
all of them can fly.
They breathe with
their lungs.
Their eggs are
fertilised internally
and have hard
shells which are
laid in their nests.

Most mammals have
bodies covered with
hair or fur.
The eggs are fertilised
internally, and their
young develop inside
the female body.
All mammals (except
the duck-billed platypus
and spiny anteater) give
birth to live young.
Their younf feed on milk
from the mothers
mammary glands.
Breathe with their
lungs (include dolphin
and whale which live in
water).
