K to 12: A reiteration

As the Philippines continues its drive towards keeping abreast with the rest
of the world in the many aspects of development the government had
conceptualized, approved, and implemented the K to 12 program for the
Department of ducation !Depd"#
$ow on its third year of application, the program continues to be relevant
as the country strives to maintain its reputable and productive stage in the global
village#
%ased on the program&s enabling law, 'epublic Act 1()** and according
to information and education campaign materials from the +ffice of the President
and the Depd, K to 12 covers Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education !si,
years of primary education, four years of -unior .igh /chool, and two years of
/enior .igh /chool !/./" to provide students sufficient time for mastery of
concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for tertiary
education, middle0level skills development, employment and entrepreneurship#
1n a sense, the program is geared to achieve the following salient features2
/trengthening early childhood education, building proficiency through language
!mother tongue0based multilingual education, making the curriculum relevant to
learns through conte,tualization and enhancement, gearing up for the future
!senior high school", ensuring integrated and seamless learning !spiral
progression" nurturing the holistically0developed 3ilipino !college and livelihood
readiness, 21st century skills"#
4raduates of K012 therefore would be more holistically capacitated in the
relevant aspects covered by the program, hence making them more e5uipped
with life skills that will help them become more ready for college and productive
in their respective professions or technical specialties#
6onse5uently, these graduates will more likely be assets to nation0building
with their all0around academic and practical training#
7ith respect to the responsibilities of administrators and teachers in the
primary level, it is well assured that educators and educational managers will
collaboratively work to achieve their mandated roles from ensuring that their
learners are e5uipped to step up the ladder of world 5uality education#
