PORTRAIT PROJECT

1. Open a new document. Use the 1600x1200 template. CHANGE THE ORIENTATION SO
THAT IS PORTRAIT ORIENTATION.
2. Do a file>save as and call it last name_portrait
3. Open as layers, your portrait image.
4. Use the scale tool to resize as necessary.
5. Make a copy of the LAYER. LOCK IT. PUT IT ON THE BOTTOM AND MAKE IT
INVISIBLE.
6. Make a new layer. Place it under the top layer (picture of you). Name it GRADIENT
7. Add a gradient to the gradient layer.
8. In the layer with the photo of you, use a selection tool to delete the background.
9. Make another new layer called added pic.
10. Add the design image that you found on Google (royalty free)
11. Use the type tool to add your name. Use the rule-of-thirds and/or DIRECTIONAL LINE.
12. The final step is to add blending modes and to paint/draw designs and texture. REMEMBER,
you can change the blending mode in the tool options AND/OR the layers dialog.
13. Check the rubric to see if you met all of the requirements.
14. Save the GIMP file to your H-drive.
15. Export a .png copy to be turned in.
16. Upload a copy to your My Work page on your website
