te m to maintain a continuous s tre am of
variable , ve hicle -s pe cific s ignals with
the e le ctronic circuitry in the ke y. The
ignition, the flow of fue l and the s tarte r
are e nable d only afte r the ke y has be e n
re cognize d as "authorize d".

s e e able damage from the we athe r, it
als o provide s a ce rtain de gre e of the ft
prote ction.
Eve n with the top clos e d, it is always
advis able to ke e p valuable s locke d in
the luggage compartme nt.
Do not mount roof racks on the conve rt-
ible top.

The lock e ngage s automatically whe n

be yond the normal to the full-throttle

Whe n folding back the re ar backre s t,
make s ure that the locking de vice is
prope rly e ngage d to e ns ure prope r
ope ration of the s afe ty be lt. The re d
s lide mus t move downward.
If the re ar backre s t is not locke d, the
s afe ty be lt can not be pulle d out.
It make s pos s ible a s afe , conve nie nt
trans port of 3 to a maximum of 4 pairs
of s kis (BMW Conve rtible , maximum of
2 pairs of s kis ).
The le ngth of the s ki bag in combination
with the additional s pace in the luggage
compartment makes it pos s ible to trans -
port s kis of up to 6.8 ft. (2.10 m) in
le ngth. Be caus e the s ki bag contracts
as additional s kis are ins e rte d, the bag
is s uitable for trans porting only two
pairs of s kis whe n both are a maximum
of 6.8 ft. (2.10 m) long.
If the s ki bag is not us e d for longe r pe ri-
ods , it s hould be s tore d in a dry place .
It is advis able to wipe off any wate r
which has colle cte d on the wate rproof
s ki bag from time to time .
