BRUSHES
THE PAINTBRUSH TOOL
The paintbrush tool lets you add personality
and style to your work by stylizing the paths
you create. You can use four different types
of paintbrushes in illustrator, each of which
create unique styles of brush strokes.
1. Calligraphic Brush
2. Scatter Brush
3. Art Brush
4. Pattern Brush
TYPES OF BRUSHES
Styles paths with an angled point like
calligraphic pen. Stroke color is applied
evenly along the center of the path.
Calligraphic Brush
Objects like confetti or star shapes are
scattered along the path.
Scatter Brush
An object or shape is stretched along the
length of a path.
Art Brush
Pattern tiles conform to and are repeated
along the length of a path. Each pattern
brush can include up to 5 tiles representing:

Inner corners
Outer corners
Start
End, and
Sides
Pattern Brush
The blob brush is a new tool in CS4. it is
different from the regular paintbrush tool
because it creates paths with brush strokes
applied to them.

The blob brush paints object as a single
filled closed path.
The Blob Brush Tool
