Aim: Our aim is was to investigate wether I have more bacteria on my controller than my brother or the other way around.
Hypothesis: My prediction is that I will have more bacteria on my controller than my brother than my brother because more people use my controller than his.
Materials: Three petri dishes, agar, two cotton buds and two controllers.
Method: Step 1) Collect petri dishes and place agar inside.
Step 2) Place specimens on CLEAN area.
Step 3) collect two cotton buds and swob over the specimens (note: DONT breath or touch the tip of cotton buds this will contaminate the cotton buds).
Step 4) In a zig-zag patten gently swipe the cotton buds in the two agars (make shore that there is a different dish for each new bud) leave one dish clean this is your control.
Step 5) Place the lids onto the petri dishes and tape it shut. (Make shore that each one is labelled so you know which is which.)
Step 6) Place dishes into incubator and come back every 24 hours to check on bacteria.
Results: My control
Results: Bro control
1 week less then 24 hours Bacteria task My Xbox controller compared to my brothers controller
Discussion: From the pictures above we can that both mine and my brothers controllers have a large amount of bacteria growing except mine is growing one thing that my brother doesnt have and that is moss. My brother has a large amount of staph and E. coli growing while I have large amounts of Yeast and Staph growing. I believe this is happening because of three different reasons; 1; Mine comes into more contact with other peoples hands. 2; We probably have lots of bacteria because we havent cleaned our controllers in a long time. 3; We havent washed out hands properly.
Conclusion: In conclusion my controller have more different types of bacteria because it comes in contact with more people than my brothers and that we need to clean our controllers more frequently.
