I. BASICFUNCTIONS:
BusinessAnalystwithstrongBusinessIntelligencetoolsanddataanalyticsbackgroundandanindepthunderstandingofhowto
designandcreateBIapplications,andhealthcarebusinessintelligencereportingsolutions.

PrimaryResponsibilities:
(1) BusinessRequirementsConductanalysisofbusinessanduserneedsinordertodeveloprequirementsdocumentation
fortheimplementationorrevisionofsystemsandapplicationsprojectsforspecifiedbusinessunits.Utilizeexpertisein
HealthCare,Businessintelligence,DataAnalytics,andDataWarehousing,andunderstandingoftheorganizations
systemsandcapabilitiestoensurethemostefficientuseofresources.
(2) TestingWorkinginconjunctionwiththebuinessusersanddevelopmentteams,responsibleforthecreationand
executionofapplicationtestscripts,scenarios,andtestplansthatvalidateinitialbusinessrequirements.

DetailedDescription:
Theroleofthebusinessanalyst(BA)istocapture,consolidate,andcommunicatetheinformationfromtheSubjectMatterExperts
(SMEs)totherestoftheteam.TheBAisacriticallinkbetweentheSubjectMatterExpertsprovidingthebusinessrequirements
andtherestoftheteamtryingtoconstructthesolution.Theneedtohelpcapture,consolidate,andcommunicatethe
informationfromtheSMEstotherestoftheteamisthecritical,bridgethegaprolethatthispersonplays.

Candidatewillhaveastrongbackgroundinhealthcare,dataanalysis,businessintelligence,anddatamanagement. Thisposition
isresponsibleforbothdatawarehousebusinessrequirements,applicationbusinessrequirements,andtestinginboth.

ThisbusinessanalystisakeypersoninvolvedinthecompletecycleofdevelopmentofaBIapplication,andDWproject,aswellas
clientimplementations.Sincebusinessusersarenotalwaysavailablewhenneeded,thebusinessanalystisoftentheprojectteam
memberthatfillsthisvoid,providingthebusinessperspectiveneededforprojectsuccess.Thebusinessanalystwillmeetwitha
broadrangeofinternalusersandwillcapturetheirapplicationanddatawarehousingrequirements,aswellasplayakeypartin
thetestingofthoserequirements.

ThisrolemusthaveathoroughunderstandingofDWaspects,healthcarePayersclientbusinessprocesses,andBIapplication
developmentprocessesincludingtestingprocedures.

ThebusinessanalystwillhaveanITbackgroundandbeveryknowledgeableabouthealthcarePayerbusiness,itsprocessesandthe
operationaldataandfunctionsthatsupportthebusiness,andknowshowthemajorpiecesofdatawarehouseingandbusiness
intelligenceapplicationsfittogether.

II. JOBFUNCTIONS:

Percent Responsibilities
80% ThebusinessanalystisresponsibleforthefollowingDATAWAREHOUSINGactivities:
Understandthebusinessusersrequirementsforinformation,features,andfunctionsand
communicatethemtotherestoftheapplicationdevelopmentanddatawarehouseteam;
Leadandconductinterviewingtasks;
Leadinterviewdocumentation;
Leadpreparationofdatawarehouserequirementsdocuments;
Leadpreparationofapplicationrequirementsdocuments;
Assistdataanalystinmappingtasks;
Leadtheidentificationanddocumentationofbusinessmetrics;
Overseetestingofapplicationreleases;
ActasconsultanttotheETLandfrontendprogrammers.
Oncebusinessneedsaredefinedforthedatawarehouseprojects,thebusinessanalystwillbeinvolved
indesigningandvalidatingthelogicaldatamodelthatprovidesadifferentrepresentationofthese
requirements.
TheBAwillalsoplayaroleindatamodeldesignandprototypingandisinvolvedin
developing/validatingsourcetargetmappingsandtransformationlogicrequiredtosupportinformation
requirements.
Thebusinessanalystmayalsoassistinidentifyingdataqualityproblemsandindeterminingoptionsfor
howtheywillbehandled.
TheBAwillalsoplayaroleintestingandvalidationandindeliveringusertraining.
Thebusinessanalystmaybechargedwithdevelopingandmanagingprojectdocumentation
deliverables.
Dependingonhowtechnicalabusinessanalystis,heorshemayalsohelpdatamodelersprepare
models,andreviewmodelstoascertainthatrequirementsaremet.

Gatherbusinessrequirementsandtranslatethemintotechnicalrequirementsforthecreationof
applicationfeatures,enhancements,andfunctions
Managemultipleinitiativessimultaneously
Elicitrequirementsusinginterviews,dataanalysis,businessprocessdescriptions,usecases,scenarios,
businessanalysis,andworkflowanalysis
Becomeasubjectmatterexpertonourdata,processes,andbusinessmethodologies
Collectmultiplestreamsofdataanddecomposethemintoconcisespecifications
Collaboratewithtechnicalexpertsandbusinessunitstodeterminethebestpossiblereporting
mechanisms
Bealiaisonbetweenproductdevelopment,technology,andinternalbusinessunits
Developrequirementsaccordingtodocumentationstandards
Decomposehighlevelbusinessrequirementsintoanappropriatelevelofbusinessrulesanddetailed
user,functional,andnonfunctionalrequirementsusingalternativeviewssuchasflows,diagrams,
models,andusecaseswhenapplicable
Workwithdevelopmentandbusinesspersonneltodevelopandexecuteplanstotestandvalidate
systems/applicationsandbusinessrequirementsincludingdevelopinguserdocumentation,firstdraft
oftrainingmaterials,manualupdates,andfieldcommunications
Meetwithuserstogatherrequirementsforprojectdefinition.Analyzeexistingproceduresandevaluate
requestedrequirementstoidentifysystemchanges
