I have known Karen for past 5 years. As a graduate student she rotated in my laboratory. she is very
motivated and hard working student with strong commitment to science. Unfortunately I was unable to have
her do thesis work due to funding issues in my laboratory. However, I have been in constant touch with
Karen. I was an examiner on her qualifying committee and she did a great job. she has demostrated strong
reseach abilities and is verry committed. she is no doubt self reliant and an independent researcher. she has
been always up to date with current research information. She is quite familiar with various laboratory
techniques and is a fast learner of new state of the art techniques. I rate her as one of the researchers in top
5 percentile. With no resevations, I will strongly recommend her for the grant award. I am confident that
Karen will successfully complete the proposed studies.
