ANEROID BAROMETER

Instrument
used to
measure AIR
PRESSURE
FACTORS AFFECTING AIRE
PRESSURE
1.TEMPERATURE:
When temperature
rises, AIR EXPANDS
and DENSITY of air
becomes less.

Temperature is high in
EQUATORIAL
REGIONS and low in
POLAR REGIONS
2. ALTITUDE:
Air near the surface is
HIGH.

As we go higher the
sea level air pressure
DECREASES.

TYPES OF AIR PRESSURE:
1. VERTICAL DISTRIBUTION OF AIR
PRESSURE:
Air pressure varies according to the altitude (height). This is
called the VERTICAL DISTRIBUTION OF AIR PRESSURE.
2. HORIZONTAL DISTRIBUTION OF AIR
PRESSURE:
The air pressure is not the same over the surface of the earth.
It varies in different regions. This is called HORIZENTAL
DISTRIBUTION OF AIR PRESSURE.
ISOBARS
A line joining the
places on the
map having the
same air
pressure is
called
ISOBARS.
