Genre: Horror and Vampire films.

There are countless recent films and TV series that present the dark, primitive and revolting
characters of vampires. All of them sharing the same culture and characteristics of the common
vampire but each on their own showcasing it differently continuously attract its viewers and
readers.
During the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries is
when vampire films began to appear. They
emerged as early as silent films and they began to
become popular during the time Bram Stokers
1897 vampire novel was written. The earliest
significant vampire film was A night Horror, a 1916
German silent film by the director Arthur
Robisons but the first notable vampire film was
produces by a German director F.W Marnau called
Nosferatu (1922).
The films Nosferatu and Dracula by became very popular and influenced many recent vampire
films. Due to its high demand and success, the film has been refurbished and modified to suit the
people of todays society with the use of higher and more advanced technology to improve the
visual experience and create what is unexpected.
Horror films in general are very popular and succeed well when it has been filmed well. What I
have personally realised is that whether or not you enjoy watching horror/ vampire films, there
is always some force that causes you to watch them. This is because of the many twists and
turns that general horror films have. The feeling of not knowing what could happen next can be
very exciting and interesting which as a consequence increases the level of curiosity, making
people feel almost forced to watch.
Many elements we see in horror films today began as myths in certain religions and cultures. A
lot of them were created to scare children in an aim to prevent them from doing wrong. Vampire
films are very unique, although many approach it in its stereotypical form. Almost all vampire
films include the pale white skin, fangs, Victorian cape-like clothing and never aging immortal
life but depending on how its filmed and edited, it can still carry out the interesting and
unexpected aspects of a good horror film.
