Anchor Left for hours in a car that can 20 degrees in 10 minutes, this is a circumstance that many children have suffered when being left in the car by their caregiver.
Heres Alexandra Ridley with the story.
---TAKE PKG--- Justin Ross Harris, a Georgia father whose 1-year-old son died after Harris forgot him in the car, was indicted by grand jury on multiple murder charges for the death of his son.
We go to Howard Universitys campus to ask students what couldve been done in this case and how do they feel.
---TAKE VO--- I personally have a hard time seeing how that was an accident. I can see how it could happen but I dont see how it was an accident. I can see how it was done intentionally.
---TAKE VO--- This is like your bundle of joy. This is person who youre supposed to be responsible for and saying that you left your kid in the car its just not, to me, a good excuse for their death and you should be held responsible regardless, if it was an accident or not.

Ive decided to take my story to the car to see how hot it can actually get in the matter of seconds. A car can reach 110 degrees when temperatures are only in the 60s. In fact, a heat stroke can take place when the outside temperature is as low as 57 degrees. (Personal experience) ---TAKE VO--- Prof. Robin Harris Robin Harris remembers a time where she has forgotten her child in the car and believes sometimes parents simply forget.
This is Alexandra Ridley reporting from News Vision in Washington, D.C.
(ANCHOR) At the 2002 New York Auto Show, General Motors previous Vice Chairman Harry Pearce unveiled a system that, he said, would be able to detect the heartbeat of a child left in a car and then measure the vehicles temperature. If it was becoming dangerously hot, it would sound the horn to alert a parent or passersby. ###
