What is NFC?
NFC is a set of standards for smartphones and
similar devices to establish radio
communication with each other by touching them
together or bringing them into proximity.

- 1983, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)

- 2004, Experimented on by Nokia, Phillips, and Sony
