ALL STUDENTS Students please remember to follow the dress code. Straps must be wider than 2 inches;
shorts must be mid-thigh, no holey pants, no oversized shirts. No red on red. Dress code
is being strictly enforced and the consequence is Saturday School.




LIBRARY NEWS Every year, there are hundreds of attempts to ban books from schools and libraries. Come
celebrate YOUR freedom to read and right to choose your book at SHS library this week
during Banned Book Week. This week, the SHS library will have on display a number of
banned booksexcept for one book. Try to guess which book wasnt banned to win a prize.
Check it out and protect your right to read!

ALL STUDENTS Calling all actors and actresses. A new after school class will begin this week on Wednesday
and Thursday. The class will run from 3:30-4:30 every Wednesday and Thursday. If youve
ever wanted to learn and perform dramas or comedies, or just simply watch musical
theatre, then this is your class. Please join us in room 1502 and bring your tapping shoes!



SENIORS Boston University is offering a four-year, FULL-TUITION scholarship. The deadline to
apply is December 1, 2014. For more information go to: www.bu.edu/admissions/trustee


ALL STUDENTS 6 week grades are around the corner. The grading period will end this Friday, Oct.3.
Continue to work hard and turn in your assignments. Extended Lunch Tutorial will begin
Monday, Oct.13. Any students with a GPA below 2.0 and or more than two Fs will be
assigned to an Extended Lunch Tutorial.


JUNIOR CLASS There will be a junior class meeting after school today in the Dining Hall to talk about our
MEETING homecoming float. Everyone is welcome to attend; this is a really fun event and it takes a
lot of people to make it happen!



LIBRARY The library will be closed every day this week for CELDT testing during first through sixth
period, including lunch time. But will reopen after school for the after school program.


ALL STUDENTS Have you checked your school email? Important school information, including extended
lunch tutorial assignments, will be sent to your school email. If you havent logged in this
year its never too late to start.



CELL PHONES & Please be respectful of the NO cell phone & IPOD rule from 8 AM 3:30 PM. If your cell
IPODS phone is confiscated; A Parent/guardian must come to Selma High to pick up the item. No
excuses. Please be respectful of the Selma High School Rules.



FOOTBALL PICS Football pictures are in and may be picked up at the athletic window with Ms. Bonilla.



STUDENT PARKING All students who drive to school need to obtain a parking permit! You can pick up an
PERMIT application in the front office with Mrs. Salinas or see Lucy. There is no cost for a parking
permit and only need a copy of their Drivers License and current insurance card.


LINK CREW Attention Link Leaders: Dont forget about your Freshmen! Please remember to stay in
touch and remind them of the upcoming events. Whats the one thing that most seniors
say by the time their seniors? I wish I would have been more involved! Inspire your
freshmen and every student on campus to make the most of every moment and dont live
with the regret of waiting too long to get involved. Your time here at SHS goes fast and the
memories will last a lifetime!


PARENT PORTAL This year there is a new web address for the parent portal. New address for the 2014/15

PICTURE RETAKES TODAY (ROOM 804) Any students who purchased a picture package from Lifetouch and are
unhappy with the way they came out, can have their picture retaken on Monday, September 29 during their
scheduled time. You just need to bring in your picture package and they will exchange them for a new one. Also, if
you would like to purchase pictures, you can do so by picking up a picture order form this week in the student office
and bringing it back during your assigned time. Any student or staff that did not get photographed for their ID can
go to room 804 to have this picture taken on this day as well. The schedule is as follows:
