Before you begin
Let Windows manage your wireless networks
We assume that your wireless network is managed by Windows. This is not always the case. Often,
the manufacturer of your wireless receiver (eg. Intel) has its own program to manage wireless
networks.
If Windows does not manage your own wireless networks, please check the manual of your computer
to change this setting.

Make sure your wireless receiver is turned on
Many computers come with a special 'WiFi' button and an indicator light for wireless access. Make
sure the WiFi receiver is on.

Configuration for the eduroam network
In Windows 7 you can find an icon for wireless networks in the taskbar, at the right (near the clock).

Click on the icon. If your wireless network connection is enabled, the available networks will appear in
a menu:

If the network 'eduroam' doesn't appear in this list, the 'eduroam' network is not available on your
current location. If you don't see any network at all, please make sure that your computer's wireless
network connection is enabled.

Don't select the 'eduroam' network yet but click the 'Open Network and Sharing Center' link at the
bottom of the list.

The Network and Sharing Center opens. Here, select the option 'Set up a new connection or network'.
and in the next step select 'Manually connect to a wireless network'.

Now a screen appears where you can manually enter the information of the eduroam network.
Complete the screen as shown below:

Network name: eduroam
Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
Encryption type: AES

Exit the screen by clicking on the 'Next' button . A confirmation screen appears. Select 'Change
connection settings' to give some additional information.

A new window appears. On the 'Connection' tab you don't have to change anything. You can
immediately select the tab 'Security'.

You will see a checkbox that enables you to save the password so you don't have to re-enter it every
time you connect. From a security point of view it's better not to save passwords on your computer, so
uncheck this box.
Once more, a new window appears. Fill this out as shown below:
