In presidential systems the President is both the head of state and the chief executive while in a parliament the head of state and the chief executive are two different offices. The Presidential system has 3 branches of government, the legislative, executive, and the judicial. The parliament system has only 2 branches of government.
2. Regarding elections, how do the systems compare? In a parliamentary democracy the voters vote for a parliament, or a party, who they believe will represent them well. The majority party that is picked picks the Prime minister who then picks the President. Party members in parliaments always vote strictly along party lines, while in presidential systems they are less disciplined and legislators are free to vote for whomever. In a presidential system the President is independently voted by the legislatures.

The president has the right to deploy the military but does not have the right to declare war and takes lead in most foreign affairs. The head of states functions in a primarily ceremonial role and the chief executive is the head of the nations legislature. In a par lament the legislature holds supreme power.
4. What are the "advantages" of each system of government? [at least two each] The advantages of the presidential system include everyone has a say in who they wish to vote for and are not oppressed by certain rules or obligations. Also a fixed term presidency is more stable than a prime minister who can be dismissed at any time. The advantages of a parlimental system include that it is faster and easier to pass legislation. Also parliamentary systems are associated with less corruption.
5. Identify a disadvantage" of each system. Disadvantages of the parliamentary system is that it is unstable and there is concentration of power and hasty decisions. Disadvantages of the presidential system include tendencies towards authoritarianism and separation of power.
