DESIGN The word THREE is in 3D capital letters in a bright shade

of blue to make it stand out because it is the name of the


channel. Two of the orange characters are placed inside the
two Es which empathises the word three more. Central in
front of the channels name there is another orange
character who is yodeling with a spotlight on it making it the main focus of your
eye, then your attention gets drawn to the two characters dancing inside the Es
which then makes you notice the text, THREE. At the end of the ident in the
bottom left the logo for the channel BBC 3 then appears,
dropping out from the last E of the text; its uses the same
font and is styled the same as the main text but is on top
of a white background.
PURPOSE The main purpose of an ident is to advertise a certain channel, in this case BBC
3, the programs that they show and the live event coverage that they do. They
occasionally have a narrator speaking over the top of the ident telling the
audience what programme is
on next and later. The secondary purpose of this ident is to advertise the
glastonbury festival and the coverage that BBC 3 will be
doing over the course of the festival to appeal to the audience of youngs adults.
COLOUR The text saying the channels name and the background is in blue; however the
text is a lighter shade of blue than the background.
The shading of the colouring is made to match the light given off by the
spotlight.
The 3 characters involved in the ident are orange, which makes them stand out
against the blue background this is because they
are two contrasting colour, on oppiste sides of the colour wheel.
STYLE The style of the ident is minimalist and comedic, which is the style of the
channel as most of the programmes shown are
comedies for teenagers,

TECHNIQUE A possible animation technique used to make the ident is claymation for the
orange characters and CGI for the lettering in the background and to make the
characters look more animated.
AUDIENCE Teenagers aged 17 25 years old.
They are targeting this audience by making the ident advertise the Glastonbury
festival which is a popular event among teenagers
and young adults. They also do this by using the orange characters, and having
them yodele, these things appeal to the target
audience because they are comedic and unique to the channel.
ETHOS It includes the ethos of the channel as one of the BBCs values is to entertain
their viewers, which is included in the ident as it has a humourous touch to it;
the music and orange blob.
