Classroom Consequences

Reminder and Redirection: The first time a student neglects to follow a guideline a friendly
reminder will be given to the student alongside a redirection to appropriate behavior.
Write Up: The second time a student neglects to follow a guideline a write up will occur. The
student will write their misbehavior in the Big Black Behavior Book along with a way they can
rectify their actions to fit within their guidelines. The student will sign the book.
Detention: The third time a student neglects to follow a guideline an after school detention will
occur. The detention will be recorded alongside the students previous infractions and will be
signed by the student.
Phone call to Guardian: The fourth time a student neglects to follow a guideline the responsible
party will receive a phone call. During this call the teacher will discuss the issue at hand as well
as the previous attempts to rectify the actions before the call became necessary. Copies of the
Behavior log can be sent upon guardian request.
Deans/Counselor Referral: The fifth time a student neglects to follow a guideline a referral
will be sent to the respective office and the guardians will be notified once more. This
consequence will also be logged in the Big Black Behavior Book.
Positive Behavior Recognition
Positive Reinforcement: The first time the teacher catches a student going above and beyond
the Classroom Guidelines they will be positively recognied with a small verbal response either
publicly to the class or on a one!to!one basis depending on the situation.
!tra Credit: "f a student continues to go above and beyond the Classroom Guidelines by not
only being an e#ceptional student but an e#ceptional person two points of e#tra credit can be
awarded on assignments.
