8:45-10:00 Indoor Investigations
8:45-10:00 Planned Small Group Activities
During choice time, the children choose to play in a variety of centers, engage in project work, and participate in small group lessons. Center choices include: Art, dramatic play, science, math, blocks, computer, writing, or light table. Children may also work in the studio at this time. -This past week the children began observing the terrarium for signs of life. There is a still lot of excitement surrounding the terrarium and the beetle. Additionally, the children made mind jars and explored expressions associated with emotions (see our display in the hall!) Also this week, the children worked in small groups to follow a recipe and make playdough. They measured and counted and observed how the dough changed while it cooked. Finally, the children were invited to paint a small wooden animal to add to our block area. -This week the children will carefully examine their reflections and will begin working on self-portraits. They will also work on measurement using non-standard units, as they use Legos and other items to measure and compare length and height of common items in the room and on the playground. 10:00-10:15 Story Time Biggest, Strongest, Fastest by Steve Jenkins Were All Alike, Were All Different by The Cheltenham Elementary School Kindergartners and Laura Dwight That is Not a Good Idea by Mo Willems Fall Break-No School 10:15-11:30 Snack Outdoor Investigations

Music and movement is included in outdoor time. We will also play a variety of music and have instruments and materials for children to use. Teachers will use this time to further develop any ideas the children have previously expressed an interest in exploring. Additionally, teachers will use this time to extend any ongoing project work. 11:40-12:00 Dismissal
After cleaning the outdoor area, children will get a drink of water, wash hands, and come indoors to work on calming activities with the teachers and interns as we move through the dismissal process.
