My dear colleagues,
I have the privilege and great honour to invite the fellow members of the Balkan Medical
Union to participate at the 33
rd
Balkan Medical Week. As doctors of different specialties
we have done our best to serve our countries well and, in time, this has brought us
together to build an ideal which crossed geographic borders and united us in a big Balkan
medical family.
This years event will focus on the topic of Interdisciplinary and updates in the Balkan
medicine and will be organized in collaboration with the Central Military Emergency
Hospital, the Romanian Society for Trauma and Emergency Surgery and the Balkan
Military Medical Committee. The main topics of the Balkan week are: medical
emergencies, surgery and trauma emergency, emergency military medicine in crisis
situations, difficulties and issues in the Balkan medical field, public health and varia.
The complexity of the topics discussed during our event is a good opportunity to bring
together doctors from different Balkan countries. The great scientific value of the topics
discussed will be enriched by the opportunity to discuss and set up new connections for
further collaborations with specialists from these countries.

It is my pleasure and honour to remember you that the 4

Edition of Dr. Carol Davila
Universitary Emergency Military Hospital Scientific Days will be hosted by the National
Military Circle on 8
th
to 11
th
October 2014.
This scientific conference, already well known from previous editions, achieved a
prestigious place in the scientific realm of Romanian military medicine, being presently
with no doubt the most significant event both from scientific and participants points of
view.
Last year, our Conference took place together with the First National Conference of
Military Physicians; present edition brings several new strong points, not only by
thursdayning the 33
rd
Week of Balkan Medical Union, but mostly because of its rich
scientific program. The first day will be dedicated only to pre-congress courses, in the
fields of general surgery, cardiology and gastroenterology. Speakers coming from Italy,
Austria, Turkey, FYROM, Moldova and Serbia will cover pretty much all that is new and
need to be known. So, the performances and experience of our military physicians will be
communicated to a broader audience, and the blending with civilian physicians
experience from some of the most prestigious hospitals in Balkans will facilitate new
professional relationships, in the benefit of doctors and patients altogether.
The general topic of the conference is: Interdisciplinarity and actualities in Balkan
medicine.
It is important to specify that the abstracts will be published in the supplement of Archives
of the Balkan Medical Union.
Being once again sure of the scientific and professional value of all our colleagues work,
we strongly invite you to participate to this scientific conference, as an extraordinary
opportunity to gain up to date information, continuous medical education and high level
professional opinions.
