Graph Summaries from Whole School Writing Moderation Term 2

The following graphs visually show the percentage of students scoring in each rubric.

Year 2 students The expected rubric score is rubric 2 or rubric 3. This above graph
illustrates that punctuation is the most needed area for focus and vocabulary being the
second area of need. Ideas has scored the best which is the foundation of all written
language as no ideas = no writing.

Year 3 Punctuation and Vocabulary are once again the areas in most need of up-
skilling. However, the results also indicate that some of the Year 3 students are
highly skilled with using punctuation (5%). Organisation is a skill that year 3
students are competent with using.

Year 4 Again some rubric 1 scores are evident in punctuation, with some students
also scoring well in this area. Overall, the year 4 results are balanced the lower
scoring (rubric 1) is matched with the higher scoring (rubric 5). The results show
that the majority of Year 4 students are using adequate vocabulary.

Year 5 Ideas have been scored only over three rubrics (rubrics 2, 3 and 4) resulting
in a narrower band in comparison to the other areas that have scores over four or five
rubrics. There are six students who scored on Rubric 2 for Vocabulary. This would
be an area for further development.

Year 6 Firstly there are no scoring at rubric 1 across the writing sample. In
punctuation the lowest scoring rubric is rubric 3, which is pleasing to see. There may
have been some confusion about the structure of a recount (5 students scoring in
rubric 3).

Overall Punctuation is an area that can be developed in years 2, 3 and 4.
Vocabulary and Structure would be two areas in Year 5 and 6 that could be developed
further. Overall the results parallel a bell-shape curve.
