ATE 2014 is the 5
th
edition of the conference series on Advances in Tourism Economics. The 2014
conference is jointly organized by the Portuguese Association for Tourism Research and Development
(APIDT) and the Tourism Research Centre of Universidade Lusada de Lisboa. This year's conference
will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, on 15 - 16 May 2014, at the premises of Universidade Lusada de
Lisboa. This years conference aims to bring together prominent economists and other researchers
with a special interest on the tourism phenomenon to debate recent advances in tourism economics
and management. By focusing on the theme of recent advances, ATE 2014 will provide another
opportunity for gathering, analysing, and debating state-of-the-art academic research on this recent
field of economic science.
The ATE conference series has now consolidated its objectives twofold, while aiming at bringing
together researchers interested on the tourism phenomenon to debate recent advances in the field we
have also developed over the years an associated publication series strongly committed at publishing a
selection of papers presented in our conferences. Henceforth, a selection of the papers presented at
ATE 2014 will be again proposed for publication either in a special issue of the Journal Tourism
Economics and/or at a another book to be edited by Springer-Verlag.
