Nordic States U.S.

Sweden is one of the world leaders in gender


equality in the world, with 43% of their
parliament being women and 50% of their
cabinet.
Compared to Sweden, the US had a small
amount of women in the government.
Denmark has the highest percentage of
women in the labor force at 80%
Women in the US hold positions such as
secretarial work, rather than labor positions
In Iceland, Women and men are given equal
opportunities.
The US is the same as Iceland
Finland was the first country to enact equal
voting rights for women in 1906
The US joined Finland a few years later in
1920.
Out of 187 countries, Norway ranked first for
equal pay between males and females.
Out of those same countries, the US ranked
fifth.

The gender equality in the Nordic States is very high. These countries appear to be
ahead of the US in some cases. This is in a whole, however in separate nations many are
behind in some areas, and ahead in others. The area is a very gender equal area.
