MUHAMMAD NATSIR, The Effect of Leadership Styles, Organizational Culture,
Competency, Competence and Work Motivation towards the Teachers Performance of Senior High School in Makassar, South Sulawesi (supervised by H. M. Nazir Hamsah, Basri Modding, and H. Mursalim Umar Gani).
This research aims at testing and analyzing the effect of Leadership Styles, Organizational Culture, Competence and Work Motivation towards the Teachers Performance as approaches used in teaching and learning process in Senior High School of Makassar, South Sulawesi.
The primary data of this research are collected using a research questionnaire. The respondents of this research are senior high school teachers from 22 public schools in Makassar consisting of 260 respondents who have at least 4 year teaching experiences. The data are collected from May to August 2010. The data are processed using AMOS 18 software and the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) is employed to analyze the data.
The result of data analysis reveals that; 1) leadership styles, culture of organisation and teachers competency affect work motivation; 2) leadership styles do not affect teachers work performance while culture of organisation and teachers competency affect teachers work performance. However, the effect of competency is very weak toward teachers work performance; 3) work motivation affects teachers work performance while work motivation as the intervening variable mediates the effect of culture of organisation and teachers competency on teachers work performance but does mediate the effect of leadership styles on teachers work performance.

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: menguji dan menganalisis Pengaruh gaya kepemimpinan, budaya organisasi, kompetensi, dan motivasi kerja guru terhadap kinerja guru sebagai Strategi dalam Proses Belajar Mengajar Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri di Kota Makassar Sulawesi Selatan dengan menggunakan data primer melalui survei sebanyak 260 orang guru sebagai responden dengan pengalaman mengajar minimal empat tahun di 22 SMA Negeri se Kota Makassar. Survei di lakukan dari bulan Mei hingga Agustus 2010. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan program Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) dengan fasilitas software AMOS 18. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa: (1) gaya kepemimpinan, budaya organisasi, kompetensi berpengaruh terhadap motivasi kerja, (2) gaya kepemimpinan tidak berpengaruh terhadap kinerja guru, sedangkan budaya organisasi dan kompetensi berpengaruh terhadap kinerja guru, tetapi pengaruh kompetensi guru sangat lemah terhadap kinerja guru, (3) motivasi kerja berpengaruh terhadap kinerja guru, dan sebagai variable intervening motivasi kerja berpengaruh memediasi budaya organisasi dan kompetensi untuk meningkatkan kinerja guru tetapi tidak berpengaruh memediasi gaya kepemimpinan terhadap kinerja guru.
